Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, the Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, is scheduled to visit the Republic of Zambia from November 4 to November 7, 2024. The primary agenda of this official visit includes co-chairing the Sixth Session of the India-Zambia Joint Permanent Commission alongside Mr. Mulambo Haimbe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Zambia, on November 6, 2024. This session aims to review and strengthen various aspects of the bilateral relationship, following the Fifth Session held in New Delhi in 2005. During his visit, Minister Singh will engage with senior members of the Zambian government and participate in an India-Zambia Business Round Table Conference, focusing on enhancing trade and investment ties between the two nations. As of the fiscal year 2023-24, bilateral trade reached USD 448.39 million, with India emerging as a significant investor in Zambia, having committed over USD 5 billion in investments. Additionally, Minister Singh will also interact with the Indian expatriate community in Lusaka, which comprises approximately 30,000 individuals. Notably, this visit coincides with the celebration of 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Zambia, signifying an important milestone in their historical partnership.
