Anaergia Partners with PepsiCo for Renewable Natural Gas Initiative in Colombia

Anaergia has contracted with PepsiCo in Colombia to convert 50,000 tons of organic waste into renewable natural gas, reducing CO2 emissions by 3,700 tons annually. The move marks a significant step in sustainable waste management and energy production.

Anaergia Inc. has established a contract with PepsiCo Alimentos ZF LTDA to supply its advanced digestion technology alongside integrated biogas conditioning and upgrading technologies for a renewable natural gas (RNG) project situated in Colombia. This project will transform approximately 50,000 tons of organic residue generated at PepsiCo’s Funza food production facility into RNG, which will be utilized on-site to diminish reliance on fossil natural gas, thereby achieving a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions up to 3,700 tons of CO2 annually. Assaf Onn, the CEO of Anaergia, emphasized that this marks the third continent where their systems have been provided to PepsiCo facilities.
