TEHRAN – Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, has announced plans to dispatch four Iranian warships to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During his remarks at the 14th Malek Ashtar Festival, Admiral Tangsiri emphasized that security in the region should be the responsibility of its own nations, not foreign powers. He stated, “This meeting is taking place for the first time, and we have repeatedly stated that regional countries are fully capable of ensuring their own security without the need for foreign presence,” as reported by the Tasnim news agency.
Furthermore, the IRGC Navy is actively pursuing military collaborations with adjacent states, including Iraq. Admiral Tangsiri highlighted Iran’s ongoing naval exercises with Oman as a step towards strengthening defense ties. He noted, “For example, we have engaged in naval cooperation with Oman and have already participated in joint drills with them.”
