Malik Agar, deputy chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, stated that the planned conference on February 14 is a harmful effort by the UAE to manipulate Sudan’s political situation. He emphasized that such a move is a blatant violation of Sudan’s sovereignty and undermines the principles of the African Union by disregarding national self-determination.
Agar specifically condemned the UAE for attempting to enforce its political agenda by insisting on the involvement of the UN Secretary-General and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia in a discussion that should focus on Sudan’s interests. He described the timing of the conference as a strategic maneuver aimed at distracting from Sudan’s concerns and turning it into a political spectacle that favors Emirati interests.
He urged Ethiopia to consider joint interests and recognized Egypt’s stance against the UAE’s initiatives, accusing the UAE of misrepresenting facts and perpetuating its aggression towards Sudan. Agar reiterated that Sudan categorically rejects external discussions regarding its internal affairs, especially when initiated by non-African Union states.
