In a bid to enhance defense collaboration, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with Fiji’s Defence Minister Pio Tikoduadua in Bengaluru on Sunday. The discussion focused on methods to deepen defense cooperation and led to an agreement to formalize the India-Fiji Joint Working Group (JWG) on Defense Cooperation. This meeting occurred on the eve of Aero India 2025, set to commence on Monday.
Upon his arrival in Bengaluru, Minister Tikoduadua emphasized the longstanding relationship between Fiji and India, expressing the hope to advance their partnership further. In a social media update, Singh acknowledged his meeting with Lt Gen Chol Thon J Balok, the Defense Minister of South Sudan, where they evaluated the current state of defense relations, including cooperation on United Nations peacekeeping initiatives.
The meetings with Fiji’s and South Sudan’s defense ministers signify India’s commitment to strengthening international defense ties. By institutionalizing the Joint Working Group with Fiji and engaging with South Sudan, India aims to foster collaborative defense efforts and support global peacekeeping operations.
