Bangladesh Enhances Energy Cooperation Discussions with Oman and Qatar

On February 17, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain of Bangladesh met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi during the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat. The discussions centered on enhancing energy cooperation, with Bangladesh seeking guaranteed energy supplies from Oman. Both parties expressed satisfaction regarding their strong bilateral relations, commemorating the upcoming 50th Anniversary of diplomatic ties between their nations.

During the meeting, Adviser Hossain extended an invitation for his Omani counterpart to visit Bangladesh for the anniversary celebration. He also expressed gratitude to the Omani government for accommodating a significant number of Bangladeshi expatriates contributing to both economies. Furthermore, he requested the recruitment of various Bangladeshi professionals in Oman, including doctors, engineers, and nurses, along with shipbuilding technicians.

In addition, Adviser Hossain met with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Soltan Al Muraikhi. He acknowledged Qatar’s support in hosting Bangladeshi expatriates and requested that the Qatari government consider the recruitment of professionals, specifically in healthcare and engineering sectors. He invited relevant representatives from Qatar to visit Bangladesh to engage with local professionals for potential job placements.

Conversations also touched upon promoting investments from Qatar. Both sides recognized the significance of facilitating private sector visits from Qatar to Bangladesh, aiming to identify favorable investment opportunities.
