On Friday, the Iraqi embassy in Ankara hosted a seminar aimed at discussing the procedures for granting entry visas to Turkish investors while exploring significant investment opportunities in Iraq for 2025. Ambassador Majid Al-Lajmawi announced that the trade exchange volume between Iraq and Turkey had exceeded $15 billion. The seminar featured prominent officials, including the head of the Turkish-Iraqi Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Muhammad Mufid Aydin, and many Turkish businessmen and investors.
Ambassador Al-Lajmawi emphasized the Iraqi government’s commitment to simplifying visa procedures for Turkish investors, aiming to enhance economic cooperation and mitigate any tensions in bilateral relations. He mentioned that the embassy has worked diligently with relevant authorities to secure special exceptions that allow direct visa grants to Turkish investors.
Furthermore, he highlighted the economic relations between Iraq and Turkey, inviting investments across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and technology. Al-Lajmawi pointed out that the $15 billion trade exchange figure for 2024 excludes oil and its derivatives, reflecting the robust commercial ties between the two nations.
The head of the Turkish-Iraqi Parliamentary Friendship Committee commended the Iraqi embassy’s efforts in easing the visa process and stressed the importance of strengthening economic relations. Similarly, the deputy head of the Parliamentary Investment Committee indicated that 2025 will see a rise in investment projects with increased facilities in renewable energy, manufacturing, and technology sectors.
