Jorge Martin Ruled Out of Argentina Grand Prix Following Injury

Jorge Martin, the MotoGP champion, will miss both the Thailand and Argentina Grands Prix due to a broken left hand suffered during training. His recovery is progressing slowly, and his participation in the US GP on March 30 is uncertain, pending fitness evaluations.

Jorge Martin, the reigning MotoGP world champion, has been ruled out of the upcoming Argentina Grand Prix due to an injury sustained during training. After breaking his left hand, the recovery process has been described as slow by MotoGP doctor Angel Charte, who confirmed Martin would miss both the Argentina race on March 14-16 and the season opener in Thailand this weekend.

Doctor Charte noted that the primary concern is the proper healing of Martin’s fractured scaphoid. Although he is in high spirits, he will remain sidelined until he is fit enough to participate in the US Grand Prix at Austin on March 30, contingent upon successfully passing fitness tests.

Martin previously faced a challenging situation when he sustained fractures to his right hand and left foot during a highside crash on February 5 in Malaysia while testing. He returned to Barcelona for surgery on his right hand; however, while training on a supermoto bike in Spain days before departing to Thailand, he suffered a complex fracture in his left hand, necessitating further surgery.

Consequently, this injury precludes his participation in the Buriram race and the subsequent Argentina GP. His eligibility for the Austin event will depend on the satisfactory results of his fitness evaluations conducted prior to the race.

In summary, Jorge Martin will miss both the Thailand and Argentina Grands Prix due to a broken left hand. His slow recovery raises concerns for the upcoming races, particularly regarding his participation in the US GP. It is imperative that he passes fitness tests to ensure his return to competitive racing this season.
