TikTok Launches ‘Safer Together’ Initiative to Enhance Digital Literacy in Iraq

TikTok and the INSM Foundation have launched the “Safer Together” initiative in Iraq to enhance digital literacy among youths aged 13-18, aiming to educate over 33,250 participants across 15 provinces through workshops and resources. TikTok has initiated a program called “Safer Together” in collaboration with the INSM Foundation for Digital Rights to foster digital literacy in Iraq. This initiative primarily targets Iraqi youths aged 13 to 18, as well as their families and educators, with the goal of reaching over 33,250 participants across 15 provinces. The program includes interactive workshops and educational materials specifically designed in Arabic and Kurdish to resonate with local cultural contexts.

Additionally, the program seeks to enhance student engagement through partnerships with universities, enabling student-led research and awareness campaigns that promote responsible digital interactions. Fatih Kafadar, TikTok’s Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for Turkiye and the Levant, expressed the company’s commitment to creating a secure online environment for its young audience. He stated that strengthening digital awareness empowers not only the youth but also their parents and educators to engage responsibly on the platform.

Hayder Hamzoz, the Executive Director of the INSM Foundation for Digital Rights, emphasized the importance of creating informed digital spaces.
