Accompanying him were Colonel Patrick Kaduda, Kenya’s Defence Attaché to Uganda, and other senior officials from the Kenyan High Commission. The meeting occurred at the SFC Headquarters in Entebbe and was attended by notable Ugandan military leaders, including Brig Gen Paul Namawa and Col Christopher Muwumba.
Ambassador Maangi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with General Kainerugaba, particularly following the publication of a disrespectful article in Kenyan newspaper The Standard regarding Uganda’s CDF. During deliberations, the Kenyan delegation clarified that the government had no connection to the article and extended formal apologies for its offensive content. Additionally, The Standard issued a public apology on social media, recognizing General Kainerugaba’s distinguished military service.
General Kainerugaba emphasized the importance of maintaining the long-standing relationship between Uganda and Kenya, asserting that no controversy should jeopardize this bond. He stressed the significance of mutual respect towards the leadership of both nations, highlighting the necessity to preserve their strong ties. The meeting concluded with a cordial exchange of gifts, where Ambassador Maangi presented traditional Kenyan attire and a lion sculpture, gifts from General Charles Kahiriri, Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces. In reciprocation, General Kainerugaba gifted a copy of the President’s autobiography, a book on Uganda’s tourism, alongside Ugandan coffee, symbolizing their mutual respect and friendship.
