The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has reaffirmed that the Federal Government has retained Remitta as its approved payment gateway, amidst plans for integration into the Treasury Management and Revenue Assurance System (TMRAS). Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, provided this information in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mokwa elaborated that the integration will encompass other qualified Payment Solution Service Providers (PSSPs) to facilitate government revenue collection. He indicated that TMRAS, which became functional on March 4, was established per directives from President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, aiming to enhance effective treasury revenue assurance and improve the budget performance of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as well as Federal Government Owned Enterprises (FGOEs).
The TMRAS is intended to centralize and optimize revenue collections and payments for all federal entities, ensuring the efficiency of the process and timely information analysis regarding transactions. Mokwa noted that while Remitta is a secure channel for revenue payments, other approved alternatives will also be integrated.
He specified, “It will not be only Remitta, but all the other payments service providers that are licensed by the CBN will be able to operate.” Remitta will continue to serve as the primary payment gateway for federal revenue collection, while efforts are underway to enhance the overall payment infrastructure and allow for greater collection system capabilities.
Mokwa advised the public and all revenue payers to utilize Remitta for Federal Government payments or refer to www.fgntreasury.gov.ng for further payment-related information.
