In its recent meetings held in Makkah Al Mukarramah, the Council praised Qatar for organizing the upcoming 2024 Doha Forum, which will address pressing global issues under the theme “The Imperative of Innovation.” The forum is slated for December 7, 2024, and aims to facilitate comprehensive discussions among global leaders.
The Council also reflected on progress made in joint Gulf initiatives and regional political affairs. It reiterated the importance of GCC unity, coordination, and interconnectedness in various sectors to enhance regional stability and collaboration.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, the GCC expressed its solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for the lifting of the blockade to enable humanitarian aid and essentials to reach they are residents. Moreover, it endorsed the Palestinian-Egyptian-Arab plan, emphasizing the necessity of establishing a unified Palestinian state and implementing a two-state solution.
The Council recognized the ongoing efforts of GCC member states to halt Israeli actions in Gaza, and commended the humanitarian assistance provided to support Palestinians. Additionally, the members emphasized respect for Syria’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, denouncing foreign interference.
The GCC reaffirmed its support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability, highlighting the need for significant political and economic reforms to address the nation’s crises and prevent it from becoming a base for terrorism and criminal activities.
Furthermore, the Ministerial Council reiterated its commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty and stability, urging dialogue and unity among Sudanese parties to resolve the ongoing crisis. They emphasized the need for peace and the preservation of national institutions amid rising tensions.
On the international front, the Council stressed that the GCC’s stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict is rooted in principles of international law, emphasizing the importance of sovereignty and the prohibition of forceful actions.
Finally, the Council welcomed the outcomes of the meeting with Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, and Syria, which aimed to enhance economic cooperation and seek free trade agreements to bolster trade and investment interests of GCC states.
