Strengthening Armenia-Brazil Relations: A Meeting of Ambassadors

Vice Speaker Hakob Arshakyan met with Brazilian Ambassador Fabio Vaz Pitaluga to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. Highlights included the importance of inter-parliamentary ties, expanding cooperation in various fields, and addressing regional peace initiatives. Arshakyan emphasized the potential for growth in multiple areas, while Pitaluga echoed the need for joint projects.

On March 7, Deputy Chair of the Armenian National Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, received the Brazilian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Fabio Vaz Pitaluga. Arshakyan articulated that despite the geographical distance, Armenia and Brazil have forged a robust friendship characterized by mutual respect and trust.

He emphasized the significance of developing diverse ties with Brazil, a prominent nation in global politics and economics. The Vice President acknowledged the vital role of resident embassies in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

In discussing inter-parliamentary collaboration, Arshakyan highlighted the substantial role of friendship groups and called for increased mutual visits among parliamentarians to enhance cooperation. He noted that expanding the legal framework will underpin trade and economic partnerships.

The Vice President also expressed Armenia’s interest in intensifying cooperation in education, culture, agriculture, sports, tourism, and scientific fields, citing potential for significant growth in these areas. Arshakyan commended the effective collaboration of both nations within international organizations.

Addressing regional concerns, he stressed that establishing peace in the South Caucasus is a priority for the Armenian government. Arsen Torosyan, member of the Armenia-Brazil Friendship Group, mentioned the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative aimed at fostering regional communication.

Armenian parliamentarians also discussed pursuing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and addressed the issues surrounding Armenian captives in Azerbaijan. Ambassador Fabio Vaz Pitaluga expressed gratitude for the reception and reiterated the importance of enhancing inter-parliamentary ties and joint cooperative projects.
