On March 7, 2025, the Central African Republic Armed Forces (FACA) celebrated the graduation of 438 new soldiers, inclusive of 38 women, who completed a rigorous six-month military training program led by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). This initiative is part of a bilateral cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing the security capabilities of the Central African Republic (CAR). Over the past two years, the RDF has trained hundreds of CAR soldiers, reinforcing the collaboration between the two nations.
The graduation event took place at Camp Kassaï military barracks in Bangui, with Prime Minister Félix Moloua officiating on behalf of President Faustin Archange Touadera. Key military figures present included Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, the RDF Army Chief of Staff, and Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, the Defence Spokesperson. Prime Minister Moloua acknowledged the positive impact of the ongoing military cooperation between RDF and FACA, stating satisfaction with the progress and capability demonstrated by the CAR Armed Forces to protect its citizens.
General Zephlin Mamadou, the Chief of General Staff of FACA, praised RDF’s training efforts, emphasizing their significance in strengthening FACA’s capacity to address security challenges. Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi reiterated the commitment of both countries to produce skilled and professional soldiers capable of defending CAR’s territorial integrity. He assured that RDF will continue supporting FACA through basic military training and additional career development programs.
During the ceremony, the new graduates exhibited various skills acquired during their training, including proficiency with diverse weapon types, showcasing their readiness to fulfill their security responsibilities in the Central African Republic.
