Miguelys Centeno, a 21-year-old Venezuelan woman, is now presumed dead after disappearing two weeks ago. The Guyana Police Force has issued a wanted bulletin for a suspect following the discovery of skeletal remains believed to be hers at 9 Mile, Mabura trail. Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum stated the police are working to confirm the identity of the remains through DNA testing.

The police are seeking 37-year-old Fernando Teles Pereira, a Brazilian man, in connection with Centeno’s presumed murder. He is accused of the crime committed on February 20 in Diamond, located on the East Bank of Demerara. Pereira’s last known addresses include both Guyana and Brazil.

Centeno’s mother, Yuhengris Gerdez, expressed her anguish, stating her daughter always informed her about her whereabouts. “I’m a desperate mother wanting to know what happened, what happened to my daughter,” highlighted Gerdez, emphasizing her daughter’s consistent communication.

According to an interview, Centeno was last seen boarding a truck driven by the suspect on February 20 around 09:30 am after finishing her shift at a bar in Eccles. Although she typically would spend the night at a friend’s house after late shifts, she has not been heard from since that morning, leading to an investigation and search.

DNA results are awaited to confirm the remains, but clothing found with the body matches what Centeno was last seen wearing. Additionally, details have emerged that the skeletal remains exhibited braces, which Centeno wore at the time of her disappearance, alongside a chain and earrings with which she was last seen.

The family is seeking justice as authorities continue their search for the suspect, stating that learning about the presumed kidnapping and death of Centeno is devastating. They demand accountability, stressing that the suspect is unknown to them, further compounding their grief.

In conclusion, the presumed death of Miguelys Centeno underscores a tragic incident prompting a police investigation. Authorities are actively pursuing the suspect, Fernando Teles Pereira, while the family seeks justice amid their grief. The identification of the remains and the ongoing investigation will be crucial in addressing this case and providing closure to Centeno’s family.
