This event, organized by the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) alongside the French Permanent Mission, focused on the theme “Securing the Legacy: Debriefing from Paris 2024 for Future Major Sporting Events” and commemorated the fifth anniversary of the UNOCT Global Sports Programme.
In her address, Her Excellency highlighted Qatar’s significant contributions to the Global Sports Programme aimed at counter-terrorism. She commended Qatar’s effective hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022, where a comprehensive security framework ensured the safety of spectators and athletes. The meeting also featured Lt. Colonel Ali Mohammed al-Ali, Director of the Arab and International Police Communication Department at the Ministry of Interior. He elaborated on Qatar’s exemplary role in securing major sporting events, focusing specifically on the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the preventive measures taken by the Safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC) in advance of the event.
