The DEVE delegation to Tanzania from February 24-26, 2025, led by Chair Barry Andrews, aims to evaluate the impact of EU investments, focusing on various development projects. The Development Committee (DEVE) delegation from the European Parliament will visit Tanzania from February 24 to February 26, 2025. The delegation, composed of seven Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) led by Chair Barry Andrews, aims to gather direct insights regarding Global Gateway initiatives and other development cooperation projects.

The visit will concentrate on evaluating the effects of EU investments in Tanzania, encompassing both specific sector projects and the broader significance of the EU’s Global Gateway initiative. The MEPs are scheduled to explore various projects centered on water and sanitation, economic development, port infrastructure, gender equality, education, and sustainable fishing practices during their three-day mission.

In addition, the delegation will engage with Tanzanian government ministers, representatives from EU diplomatic missions, UN agencies, development banks, private enterprises, and national development agencies. Discussions will also include talks with members of the Tanzanian parliament and local civil society representatives, focusing on vital topics such as sustainable development, inter-parliamentary cooperation, and human rights issues.

The DEVE delegation’s visit to Tanzania is an essential opportunity to assess the impact of EU developmental initiatives on the local economy and populace.
