Morocco has reported a 24% increase in tourism with nearly 2.7 million arrivals by February 2025. The surge includes almost 1.4 million arrivals in February alone. Morocco has experienced significant growth in tourism, with nearly 2.7 million arrivals at border posts by the end of February, representing a 24% increase compared to the previous year. This surge amounts to 521,000 additional visitors, particularly from key source markets, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism.
February demonstrated remarkable performance with almost 1.4 million arrivals, reflecting a 22% increase and gaining 248,000 more visitors compared to the same month last year. This rise is attributed to an 18% hike in foreign tourists, amounting to 119,000 additional entries, and a 26% increase in Moroccans living abroad, totaling 130,000 extra entries.
Fatim-Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Tourism, emphasized the significance of these figures: “Adding half a million visitors in just two months underlines Morocco’s place among the world’s leading destinations.” She elaborated that each visitor contributes to regional economies, job creation, and youth involvement, demonstrating the success of Morocco’s tourism strategy.
By reaching 17.4 million visitors by the close of 2024, Morocco has exceeded its tourism goal two years ahead of the 2026 plan. Recognizing tourism as crucial to its economy, the Ministry of Tourism and the Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) are committed to enhancing the sector.
To sustain this growth, Morocco is implementing various initiatives, partnering with global travel agencies and airlines, to attract tourists through both organic interest and strategic collaborations.
