South Sudan’s healthcare system faces severe challenges, compounded by ongoing conflicts in neighboring Sudan. Constructed with funding from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the hospital is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery for local communities and refugees alike.
Governor Simon Ober Mawut of Northern Bahr el Ghazal highlighted the timing of the hospital’s inauguration as vital given the influx of over 300,000 returnees and refugees from Sudan, alleviating stress on existing facilities. “This hospital will reduce pressure from the only referral hospital that we have,” he stated, appreciating the UAE’s efforts to address urgent health needs.
UAE State Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E.
