A total of 205 candidates, currently employed in public service, did not pass the examination and are required to resit the failing subjects, as specified in the recent report.
The PSC’s announcement, published in the Kenya Gazette on March 7, indicated that many candidates struggled with various subjects, particularly Human Resource Services, which experienced the highest number of failures among the various ministries. Other subjects with failures included communication skills, supply services, records management, and accounts.
Candidates originated from numerous government ministries and state departments, with a significant representation from the Interior and National Administration Ministry. Additional ministries, such as Public Service, Defence, Education, National Treasury, and East Africa Community and Regional Development, also had candidates who did not succeed in the examination. Moreover, failed candidates included individuals from the county governments of Nakuru, Taita Taveta, and Turkana.
Alongside the 205 unsuccessful candidates, the results of one male candidate from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration were annulled due to examination irregularities, as stated in the PSC notice.
Despite these setbacks, it is worth noting that 673 clerical officers successfully passed the proficiency examination, with their names and corresponding elective subjects listed in the notice. The PSC acknowledged this achievement, verifying that these candidates completed the exam held from September 23 to 26, 2024, successfully.
