Primarily, it is designed to offer extensive training, state-of-the-art technologies, and an array of services to assist mining companies in optimizing their operations.
Serving not only as a training center, the new facility will function as a significant distribution hub for equipment and spare parts, which will promote business growth and increase revenue streams within the region. At the official launch on March 11, 2025, Mikko Keto, the CEO of FLSmidth Group, expressed his rationale for selecting Ghana, citing the country’s robust mining capabilities and its conducive business environment.
Mr. Keto indicated, “In the past, we’ve been too focused on South Africa. Now, we aim to be more present in Ghana to better support our customers. Ghana is a stable, well-run country with significant mining competence, making it an ideal location for this investment.” The establishment of this service centre is expected to enable quicker delivery of equipment and efficient refurbishment services, thereby reducing lead times substantially.
The Centre will also act as a strategic location for stocking production spare parts, ensuring fast deliveries across Ghana and West Africa. Mr. Keto highlighted, “This facility will serve as a stocking location for production spare parts, ensuring quicker deliveries across Ghana and West Africa. Additionally, we can fully refurbish equipment here, bringing it back to the centre for maintenance before returning it to site.”
