In a recent interview with Kessben TV, Louis expressed his admiration for the talent within the GPL but cautioned against the struggles that can discourage young players.
Louis shared, “I wish our league was filled with top-notch players, but I don’t want them to go through the same struggles I faced. It’s heartbreaking to see talented players discouraged and potentially turning to destructive habits.” He lamented the financial limitations he encountered throughout his long career in the GPL which further empowers his motivation to guide young players towards overseas prospects.
He emphasized the importance of financial security, advising, “That’s why I always advise young players to prioritize their financial well-being. When choosing a team, consider the wages and opt for the best offer. Even if the pay is good in Ghana, don’t spend your entire career here—explore opportunities abroad.”
Additionally, Louis called upon the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to implement reforms within the GPL to better the environment for local talents, stating, “I urge the Football Association to work towards creating a better environment for our talented players. Ghana has so much potential—let’s nurture it.”
