Iran has summoned the ambassadors of the UK, France, and Germany in response to their joint actions at the UN Security Council regarding its nuclear program. The Iranian Foreign Ministry recently summoned the ambassadors of the E3 nations—United Kingdom, France, and Germany—as a direct response to their collaborative efforts with the United States at the United Nations Security Council. This summoning occurred amid protests regarding their depiction of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program as a cause for concern.
On Thursday, the heads of missions from the E3 nations were called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran. This action was taken in light of what Iran perceives as a misuse of the United Nations Security Council mechanism, especially regarding discussions related to its nuclear activities.
Hassaninejad Pirkouhi, the Director General of the International Peace and Security Department at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, facilitated the meetings. During these discussions, the ambassadors assured that they would relay Iran’s objections to their respective governments.
Iran has vehemently opposed the UN Security Council meeting concerning its nuclear program, deeming it an “unwarranted interference” with its ongoing collaborations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
