Getachew Reda took to social media to express concern over military actions against civilians, stating that protests have been met with violence. He noted, “…civilians protesting these illegal moves being rounded up and shot at at random. Many casualties in Adigudom and parts of Mekelle…” He further alleged the involvement of “external forces” in these confrontations against the Interim government.
The Ethiopian government has yet to comment on the escalating situation in the Tigray region. In response to Tsadkan Gebretensae’s article suggesting potential conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia, Eritrea’s Minister for Information, Yemane Gebremeskel, emphasized that “Tigray cannot be the battleground for Ethiopia and Eritrea.”
Yemane Gebremeskel criticized Tsadkan’s stance, labeling him as “an ardent proponent of the toxic agenda of aggression against Eritrea.” He remarked on Tsadkan’s commentary on war preparations, asserting that it reflects a deeper agenda of hostility. “Perhaps inadvertently, Tsadkan reveals that he is privy to the war-mongering agenda when he announces: “Preparations are in their final stages”, he added.
