MOC, an official partner of the MTN event, highlighted the significance of these championships in identifying and nurturing young athletic talent. Akani pointed out that the inaugural MTN Champs took place in Benin, where many raw talents were discovered. Some of these athletes are now benefitting from full athletic scholarships in the United States, showcasing the event’s impact on their careers.

He expressed optimism about the potential of emerging stars to bring honor to Nigeria on both national and international platforms. Additionally, Osaze Ebueku, MTN’s Senior Manager of Sponsorship and Go-To-Market (GTM), reiterated the company’s dedication to supporting and refining young athletes, comparing them to rough diamonds fostered into champions. Ebueku also conveyed his enthusiasm about returning to Benin to discover further exceptional talents.
