2025 Tunisian Golf Open: A New Chapter for Golf in Tunisia

The 2025 Tunisian Golf Open will take place at The Residence Golf Course from March 20 to 22, marking the beginning of Tunisia’s golf hosting with two tournaments this year. The event features a robust player field and promises to enhance Tunisia’s recognition in the global golf community. Pro-Am events and support from renowned sponsors further elevate its status.

The Alps Tour announces the commencement of the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open, to be held from March 20 to March 22 at The Residence Golf Course in Tunis. This tournament marks the initiation of the Tunisian Swing following the Egypt Swing. Players will subsequently compete in the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open at La Cigale Tabarka Golf Course from March 25 to March 27.

Due to a three-year partnership agreement established in 2024, Tunisia has expanded its commitment to the Alps Tour by including an additional tournament in the 2025 schedule. This expansion is made possible through the collaboration of several partners, including the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT), The Residence Tunis, and La Cigale Tabarka Hôtel-Thalasso-Golf.

The inaugural Tunisian Golf Open took place at El Kantaoui in 2015 and 2016, and in 2024 it was held at La Cigale Tabarka Golf. This year marks The Residence Golf Course’s first appearance on the tour’s calendar, aiming to enhance Tunisia’s reputation as a premier golfing destination globally.

The inclusion of world-class golf venues like The Residence Golf Course and La Cigale Tabarka Golf positions Tunisia as a significant player in golf tourism. These prestigious facilities raise both the Tour’s stature and Tunisia’s visibility on the international golf scene.

Before each tournament, two Pro-Am events are scheduled. The Tunisian Golf Open Pro-Am will take place on March 19 at The Residence GC Tunis, commencing at 12:30 p.m., featuring 24 teams participating.

The tournament will exhibit an impressive field, showcasing prominent players from the 2025 Alps Tour Order of Merit, including Quentin Debove from France, Javier Barcos from Spain, Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela from Spain, and Luca Galliano from Switzerland. Defending champion Gianmaria Rean Trinchero of Italy is returning to compete as well.

Benjamin Kedochim, last season’s Order of Merit champion from France, is also confirmed to participate. He accrued multiple top finishes during the previous season, highlighting his competitive stature.

With participation from 20 countries, the Tunisian Golf Open illustrates the worldwide appeal of the Alps Tour, ensuring thrilling competition at both The Residence Course and La Cigale Tabarka Golf.

Founded in 2001, the Alps Tour serves as an essential platform for emerging golf talents, preparing them effectively for higher-tier circuits. It provides significant opportunities, including five cards awarded to top performers through collaboration with the HotelPlanner Tour.

The Residence Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, is set against stunning Mediterranean backdrops. The 18-hole championship course provides a memorable experience and showcases intricate strategic elements requiring skill and precision.

The tournament benefits from substantial support from institutional sponsors, including the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT) and The Residence Tunis, along with private sponsors like KIA Motors and JII Sports. The La Cigale Golf Open will enjoy similar sponsorship support.

The tournament format allows for 120 players, including nine national participants and 14 amateurs, with a 54-hole stroke-play format featuring a cut after 36 holes. The prize fund for the winner stands at €47,500, with significant points awarded towards the Order of Merit.

For the latest updates, participants can follow the Alps Tour on its official website and social media channels, ensuring they remain informed about event developments and news.

In conclusion, the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open represents a significant milestone in the Alps Tour, showcasing Tunisia’s commitment to enhancing its status as an international golf destination. The strong participant field and support from various sponsors bolster the tournament’s prestige while also providing a platform for emerging players. This year’s inaugural event at The Residence Golf Course, coupled with an additional tournament, underscores the growing importance of Tunisia in the world of professional golf.
