In separate news, Kaspersky Digital Footprint Intelligence has revealed concerning statistics regarding data-stealer malware. They report a staggering 2.3 million bank cards have been compromised on the dark web following a detailed analysis of malware logs from 2023-2024. Each instance of infostealer malware results in stolen credit card information approximately every fourteenth time. Reports indicate that nearly 26 million devices have been affected by such malware, with a significant portion being Windows-based.
Kaspersky’s findings suggest that the distribution of stolen data occurs over time, often long after the initial infection. The firm anticipates that by the end of 2024, the number of infected devices could reach between 20 to 25 million. It also notes that Redline remains the predominant infostealer, while an alarming increase in infections from Risepro has emerged.
On another note, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon has excelled in sustainability reporting, winning several awards at the ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards for its 2023 Annual Report. The bank received the overall runner-up and first place in the Banking category, reinforcing its commitment to transparency. Additionally, the report garnered multiple accolades at CA Sri Lanka’s ‘TAGS’ Awards 2024, showcasing its leadership in corporate governance and sustainability initiatives.
