He firmly stated, “We are hearing that Zanu-PF is pushing the 2030 agenda… It is unconstitutional and a direct assault on democracy.” Mudenda insisted that the electoral process would proceed without Mnangagwa’s candidacy once his term concludes in 2028.
Mudenda expressed concerns regarding Zanu-PF’s alleged exploitation of opposition parties to further its agenda. He criticized the government’s uneven distribution of development projects, which he claims has exacerbated the neglect of Matabeleland and parts of the Midlands. He remarked, “We have been patient enough with their excuses… but we can’t do it any longer.” He emphasized AM’s formation as a response to historical injustices and a commitment to equitable development.
To counter any attempts at extending Mnangagwa’s term, AM is actively mobilizing supporters. Mudenda stated, “We can’t allow Emmerson Mnangagwa to go beyond 2030. We have already started the recruitment drive,” indicating plans for street demonstrations when Parliament deliberates on constitutional amendments. He maintained caution regarding participation in protests unless they are led by credible leadership, stressing the need for organized efforts.
Mudenda also pointed out the dangers of uncoordinated protests. He criticized past reliance on social media to mobilize demonstrations and advocated for well-structured approaches. He highlighted the tragic outcomes of the August 1, 2018, protests as an example of the consequences of disorganized tactics, referencing the commission of inquiry into the tragic events that resulted in fatalities.
The AM envisions establishing a prosperous and socialist Mthwakazi State, grounded in African unity and solidarity.
