As the investigation progresses into its 11th day, Santana informed ABC Eyewitness News about the limitations placed on Riibe, stating, “If he wants to leave the hotel, he cannot do that freely, but with police. His passport is seized despite not being officially charged.” The hearing regarding Santana’s habeas corpus motion is scheduled for 2 p.m. on March 18, according to the Spanish-language media outlet Noticias SIN.
More than 300 law enforcement personnel, including officials from the FBI and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, are actively participating in the search for the missing 20-year-old student. Notably, Riibe, a senior from Iowa attending St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, has been under surveillance since shortly after Konanki’s disappearance on March 6. A representative from the Dominican Republic stated that Riibe remains in custody as a significant figure in the investigation efforts.
