The 15 individuals, who have been imprisoned by Israel for periods ranging from two to three decades without trial, will not be permitted to return to Palestine following their release. Mohamad outlined that Malaysia is partaking in peace initiatives facilitated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.
During an event organized by local women’s organizations, Mohamad noted that negotiations are in progress, and a team has been designated to facilitate the arrival of the fighters, with resettlement locations to be determined in due course. He indicated that the resettlement process will mirror the approach utilized for Syrian refugees previously settled in Malaysia.
The Foreign Minister urged the Malaysian public to refrain from misinterpreting the acceptance of these fighters and emphasized that this action is a fulfillment of Malaysia’s international responsibilities. He highlighted the generosity of Malaysians, referencing the Humanitarian Trust Fund for Palestinians, which has garnered RM99 million, illustrating the nation’s compassion in supporting humanitarian efforts.
