These visits underline Taiwan’s strong relationships with its allies and like-minded partners, aiming to enhance cooperation in various sectors.

The delegation from the Marshall Islands is led by Speaker Brenson Wase and includes senators Bruce Loeak, Jack Ading, and Wilbur Heine. Their agenda includes meetings with President Lai Ching-te, a banquet hosted by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung, and discussions with several key political figures over a six-day visit that commenced on July 11.

Ireland’s delegation, arriving July 14, is led by Diarmuid Wilson, Deputy Chair of the Senate’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, along with senators Garret Ahearn, Gerard Craughwell, Gerry Horkan, and Sharon Keogan. Their itinerary features meetings with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim and other officials, including a banquet hosted by Vice Foreign Minister Remus Li-Kuo Chen, while visiting select locations in Taipei and the Yilan County over six days.

The Guatemalan parliamentary group, headed by Congress President Nery Abilio Ramos y Ramos, is scheduled to arrive on July 15. This delegation consists of congress members César Amézquita, José Sanabria, Karina Paz, and Victor Alburez. Their five-day visit will involve meetings with President Lai, a banquet with Foreign Minister Lin, and tours of various ministries and significant cultural and economic sites.

According to MOFA, Taiwan enjoys extensive cooperation with the Marshall Islands in infrastructure, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Furthermore, collaboration with Guatemala focuses on agricultural technology and education. The ministry expressed gratitude for the support from the delegations regarding Taiwan’s inclusion in international organizations such as the World Health Assembly, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with its allies.
