This development is part of the company’s plan to initiate mass production by mid-year. The Dobot Atom, manufactured by Shenzhen-based Dobot, is designed to perform various tasks including making breakfast, pouring milk, toasting bread, and transporting boxes, as demonstrated in a recent promotional video.
Standing at 153 centimeters and weighing 62 kilograms, the Dobot Atom represents the latest advancements in robotic technology. Established in 2015, Dobot has expanded its operations internationally with offices in Japan, Germany, and the United States. The company officially launched its preorder sales on Tuesday.
In addition to Dobot’s innovations, Midea Group, a leading Chinese home appliance firm based in Guangdong, introduced a prototype humanoid robot capable of diverse actions, such as shaking hands and driving screws. This unveiling was noted in reports from Chinese media outlets.
According to industry expert Ma Jihua, the emergence of humanoid robots in China indicates that the nation is rapidly advancing toward mass production of such technologies, suggesting that prices may soon align with those of household televisions. “China offers a vast market for robotic applications, with immense potential in areas such as eldercare, children’s educational assistance, and household chores,” Ma remarked.
In February, President Xi Jinping met with technology leaders to encourage advancements in the private sector. Subsequently, during an annual parliamentary session, Premier Li Qiang highlighted China’s goal to enhance self-sufficiency and capabilities in science and technology, while also stressing support for expansive AI applications, including intelligent robots and new energy vehicles.
