Bruce emphasized that the obligation for Venezuela to accept its deported citizens is not negotiable. She stated, “This is not an issue for debate or negotiation… unless the Maduro regime accepts a consistent flow of deportation flights, the U.S. will impose new, severe, and escalating sanctions.”
In her remarks, Bruce referenced President Donald Trump’s statements connecting the Venezuelan government to criminal activity, particularly with narcotics. She iterated, “The Maduro regime must accept back all Venezuelan aliens deported by the U.S., especially their murderers, rapists, criminals, human traffickers, and others illegally present.”
Additionally, Bruce underscored that the United States expects all nations to accept their deported nationals, warning of repercussions for refusal or delays. She stated, “We will impose more and new sanctions on any failure to comply… We will make clear that we expect countries to accept their nationals illegally present in the U.S.”
