The Indian Navy’s INS Tushil has successfully concluded its first port visit to Dakar, Senegal, which has significantly bolstered bilateral relations. During the three-day visit, Captain Peter Varghese engaged in discussions with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, the Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, focusing on the enhancement of naval cooperation and joint maritime security initiatives.
The visit featured a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), where the Indian Navy showcased its NISHAR – MITRA terminal. Additionally, a joint Yoga session was conducted with the Yoga Association of Senegal and Navy personnel, fostering cultural engagement. INS Tushil also welcomed approximately 150 visitors from the Indian diaspora and the local community, reflecting the Indian Navy’s increasing influence in the region.
As a highlight of the visit, INS Tushil participated in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Senegalese naval vessel PHM Niani before its departure. This exercise not only signifies the strengthening of operational ties but also emphasizes the commitment of both nations to collaborate on regional security measures and enhance their navies’ interoperability.
