Vietnam Designates Mozambique as Key African Partner: Ambassador’s Remarks

Vietnam regards Mozambique as a key partner in Africa, aiming to strengthen their traditional friendship and cooperation for mutual benefit and global peace. This sentiment was expressed by Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, Trần Thị Thu Thìn, during her credential presentation to President Daniel Francisco Chapo on March 19 in Maputo.

President Chapo congratulated Ambassador Thìn on her new role, expressing confidence in her potential to enhance bilateral relations. He noted the historic friendship and cooperation between the two nations, highlighting the success of Movitel, a joint venture between Vietnam’s Viettel Group and Mozambique’s SPI company, as a notable example of their collaborative efforts. Chapo encouraged more Vietnamese investment in Mozambique.

Ambassador Thìn reaffirmed her dedication to strengthening ties and expanding cooperation in areas such as mining, telecommunications, information technology, and digital transformation. She urged the Mozambican government to provide support for the Vietnamese community, which would further foster the enduring friendship.

The diplomat also extended greetings from Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and State President Lương Cường to President Chapo on his recent election and invited him to visit Vietnam in the near future.

Vietnam and Mozambique are committed to strengthening their bilateral relations across various sectors, focusing on economic collaboration and mutual support.
