During the initial half of Ramadan, Kuwaiti authorities reported over 600 violations concerning donation-raising regulations. These violations have emerged as part of the government’s efforts to enhance the regulation of charitable activities. The Ministry of Social Affairs uncovered 41 advertisements that breached donation protocols and noted 16 advertisements from non-compliant charitable organizations.
Additionally, discrepancies included eight violations related to individuals and groups soliciting donations through street advertisements. Field teams identified 233 unlicensed clothing collection booths, which were subsequently reported to the Kuwait Municipality for removal.
Other significant infringements included instances of collecting donations without the required official licenses. Specifically, 24 restaurants and businesses were found soliciting donations via social media. Consequently, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry was alerted to address these infractions.
For example, one establishment illegally requested donations to support an Iftar (fast-breaking) project. Furthermore, 22 violations related to donation-raising websites were flagged to the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority. Six additional breaches occurred within mosques, where advertisements soliciting donations were posted without prior approval.
Authorities also confiscated an unlicensed donation collection box, which was reported to the Ministry of Waqfs and Islamic Affairs. The month of Ramadan is recognized as a period of heightened charitable giving and kindness.
