Fiji Police Intensifies Efforts Against Drug Trade on Koro Island

Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has initiated a firm crackdown on drug activities on Koro Island, emphasizing the need for community discipline and safety. During the Koro High School Pass-out Parade, he urged students to commit to lawful behavior. The school recognized outstanding cadets, highlighting the importance of leadership and responsibility.

In a decisive move, Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has announced a stringent campaign against drug cultivation and distribution on Koro Island. He stressed that law enforcement will not show any leniency in dismantling the illegal drug trade and bringing violators to justice.

During the Koro High School Pass-out Parade, Tudravu appealed to students and the community to embrace discipline and work together to protect the island from illegal activities, promoting a safer environment for everyone.

Tudravu declared, “The Fiji Police Force will not rest until there is no marijuana on this island. If you’re cultivating it, we will find you, until you give up on these illegal activities.” He further emphasized the importance of self-discipline among students, encouraging them to avoid unlawful behaviors, particularly drug offenses.

He stated, “Some of you are already familiar with cadet training; the key to today’s success has been discipline and obeying one command—let me emphasize this—one command. I plead with you all, protect the school and its name, this island, and the proud reputation of Koro.”

This year marks the second anniversary of Koro High School’s involvement in the cadet training program, highlighting its growing commitment to fostering leadership and discipline among students.

Uluikade House received recognition as the best platoon, while Apenisa Ledua of Koroibola House was honored as Male Platoon Commander. Simeli Cokanasiga of Kuitarua House was awarded the best male cadet, and Melissa Koroi of Uluikade House earned the best female cadet award. The Best Overall award went to Sevai House, and the baton of honor was presented to Parade Commander and head boy, Jona Vibose.
