Tata Motors has launched the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV in Mauritius through a partnership with Allied Motors. Tata Motors has collaborated with Allied Motors, its local partner, to launch three electric vehicles (EVs) in the Mauritius market. This marks a significant expansion for Tata, as Mauritius becomes the first country outside of the SAARC region to receive its EVs, following previous launches in Sri Lanka. The models introduced include the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV.
The Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV in Mauritius feature the same equipment as their Indian counterparts, but they do come with different battery specifications. Each model is available with a larger battery pack than in India: the Tiago EV has a 24 kWh battery, the Punch EV a 35 kWh battery, and the Nexon EV a 45 kWh battery. The power output varies, with the Tiago generating 75 PS, the Punch 122 PS, and the Nexon 144 PS, while the torque figures are 114 Nm, 190 Nm, and 215 Nm, respectively.
The claimed driving ranges for these vehicles in Mauritius are slightly improved for the Tiago EV at 190-210 km, which is 5 km more than in India, while the Punch and Nexon match the Indian ranges of 270-290 km and 350-375 km respectively. Notably, Tata also has plans for additional EVs, such as the Curvv EV and Tigor EV, which are yet to be launched in Mauritius.
In the broader context of Tata’s electric vehicle strategy, the automotive company intends to introduce the Harrier EV and Sierra EV soon, having showcased them at the Auto Expo 2025. Furthermore, Tata is developing an all-electric version of the Safari, expected to be its flagship EV model in the near future.
